    Food stops are very limited on the Halfway adventure. For lunch, you can opt to: add-on a picnic lunch with a fresh sandwich of your choice, chips, cookies, and a drink for an additional $25/pp from Hana Picnic Lunch; bring your own food (we can keep it cold in our cooler); or eat lunch on the way back at one of the eateries in Paia town.

  • Boxed Spring Water

    We'll keep you hydrated throughout your adventure. 100% plastic-free, boxed paper-based cartons.

  • Meeting Point

    The meeting point is in Kahului at 7:30 am unless another arranged time has been agreed upon. The address and directions will be given at the time of booking.

  • Pick-Up

    We offer free pick-up in Kahului (including Kahului Harbor), Wailuku, Paia, and Upcountry locations. If you are staying on the South Side (Kihei, Wailea) or West Side (Lahaina, Ka’anapali, Napili, Kahana, or Kapalua) we can pick you up for an additional charge.

Customized Itinerary

The Halfway to Hāna Tour is custom-tailored to your desires and fitness levels. If there is anything you MUST DO, let us know. At the beginning of the day, we like to ask about your likes and dislikes so that we can make this special tour tailored just for you.

Experience breathtaking beauty, majestic waterfalls, tropical paradise, and lush rainforest living. There are numerous optional stops throughout your day! Including but not limited to:

  • the first sugar plantation town on Maui
  • watching big wave surfers at Ho'okipa (seasonal)
  • skipping through bamboo forests with numerous waterfalls
  • forging streams
  • jumping off waterfalls into glistening freshwater pools (provided by the Kane and Kanaloa themselves)
  • rainbow eucalyptus trees
  • swimming holes
  • waterfalls
  • Hawaiian taro farm views
  • black sand beaches
  • picking coffee right off the trees (late spring or fall)
  • seeing the green sea turtles (Honu)

REMEMBER: This private tour itinerary is a guide from which we mold your individual adventure! Please inquire about specific Halfway to Hāna itineraries because they are fluid according to the weather, your fitness level, day of the week, and other unforeseen variables. *Your safety is our first priority, so hikes are dependent on weather and rainfall levels.

Duration

This tour is typically 6-7 hours and starts around 7:30 a.m. (earlier or later pick-up if you choose) from Kahului. The return time totally depends on how active you are.

Breakfast / Lunch

  • Let us know in the morning if you want to grab breakfast at a spot that offers smoothies, juices, coffee, and breakfast sandwiches.
  • Our Halfway to Hāna Tours are coordinated with Hana Picnic Lunch who make delicious sandwiches.

*Please let us know at least 24 hours in advance if you would like us to order sandwiches from Hana Picnic Lunch for any of our tours. Additionally, Kosher picnic lunches from Maui Kosher Farm are available upon request, but we require at least 7 days’ notice for those. We are also happy to accommodate special dietary needs—just ask!

No Age Limit

Our private tours do not have an age limit as long as the keiki (little ones) are up for it. Babies should be carried as you would at home, but as long as toddlers can walk, we can take them into the rainforest. It is advised to bring your child's car seat and any specific snacks they may desire for the day.
